Chattanooga: At least six arrested in Market Street fights

Chattanooga police arrested at least six people in a series of brawls that erupted outside of the 807 Fire and Ice Bar on Market Street early this morning.

Officers were stationed outside the bar - which the Chattanooga Beer and Wrecker Board put on probation last week for previous disorders - when people poured out of the building around 4 a.m., said police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

A group from the crowd started fighting directly beside a police car parked outside the bar, she said. As police tried to break the crowd up, people began punching and kicking each other, she said.

After police broke the fight up, the same group walked to Eighth and Market streets, where they continued to to yell at each other, Weary said.

Meanwhile, a different group from the bar started fighting, spawning a series of smaller brawls in the vicinity, she said.

Officers ended up arresting people in several groups for both assault and for continuing the disorders, Weary said.

Those arrested include Dedrick Hall, Demetrius Daniel, Clevon Hall, Kelvin Watkins, Cindy Cross and LaDarrisus Bradley. All were charged with disorderly conduct.

Weary said investigators are still trying to determine the source of the arguments.
