Engineered Floors, brainchild of Shaw Industries founder Bob Shaw, today announced the acquisition of Dream Weaver Carpet Industries, of Chatsworth, Ga., which could represent a bigger push into the residential market.

The multi-family carpet startup bought Dream Weaver for an undisclosed amount, and there are no immediate staffing changes as a result of the deal, Engineered Floors announced in a press release.

"We are excited to have Dream Weaver Carpets become part of the Engineered Floors organization," said Bob Shaw, chairman and CEO of Engineered Floors. "By combining resources, we can accelerate their growth and help maximize our production efficiencies."

The announcement came on the heels of the news a day earlier that Engineered Floors was nearing completion of its second new plant, which will add hundreds of new jobs in Dalton Ga.

Both companies sell solution-dyed polyester carpet, which forgoes the use of less plentiful nylon fiber and cuts expensive steps out of the manufacturing process.
