Media outlets in Alabama and Colorado were reporting Monday night that University of Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain will be introduced today as Colorado State's new head coach.

Colorado State has scheduled a lunchtime news conference.

McElwain is in his fourth season at Alabama, helping oversee a 47-6 record compiled by the Crimson Tide. He is expected to remain with Alabama through its BCS championship date with LSU in New Orleans on Jan. 9.

Under McElwain's guidance, Alabama set a single-season school record by amassing 5,642 yards in 2009 and topped it last year with 5,773 yards in one less game. Former Tide quarterback Greg McElroy set school records last season in completion percentage (70.9), touchdown passes (20) and yards (2,987).

McElwain, 49, was raised in Montana and played at Eastern Washington. He would replace Steve Fairchild, who went 7-6 in 2008 but 3-9 each of the past three seasons for a 16-33 mark.
