The Tennessee Department of Transportation held a ceremony today to officially open its state-of-the-art facility that helps manage traffic along Southeast Tennessee interstates.

The Transportation Management Center will help control cameras and message boards within Chattanooga.

"We're attempting to clear our highways quicker," said Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer.

The transportation center was built last year at a cost of $2.5 million. TDOT officials started using the building in December 2010.
