Drive-by shooting

The victim of a drive-by shooting at 100 Woodvale Ave. on Saturday told police he was running away from gunfire when he was injured.

Antonio Edwards, 18, called police just before 8 p.m. Saturday and said he and three friends were walking on Woodvale Avenue when they heard gunfire, according to police spokeswoman Jerri Weary.

Edwards and his friends ran to avoid being hit. He lost track of his friends and ran to Brainerd Road, where he realized that he'd been shot in the lower leg, Weary said. He was treated at a local hospital.

Edwards told police that he saw a red sedan around the time of the shots but didn't see any suspects. The incident is still under investigation, Weary said.
