U.S. Xpress Enterprises has cut another 20 jobs at its Chattanooga headquarters as part of a reorganization of the company's night and weekend shipping operation.
The trucking giant made a similar layoff of 16 workers in October.
"We still added more [employees] than we cut this year" in Chattanooga, company spokesman Greg Thompson. Severance was offered to those leaving the company, but Thompson declined to discuss specifics.
U.S. Xpress is one of the nation's largest transportation carriers with more than 10,000 employees, including more than 1,000 workers at its Chattanooga and nearby Tunnel Hill, Ga., facilities.
