An EF-2 tornado touched down in Floyd County, Ga., about 5 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

The weather service and Floyd County Emergency Management Director Scotty Hancock completed an aerial assessment of the affected areas Friday. They determined that the storm's path began along Smith Road in the unincorporated area of the county, Hancock said, then it proceeded into the west side of Rome near Wilkerson Road, continued through Summerville Park and exited in northeastern Floyd County near Buttram Road.

Three minor injuries were reported. Most of the structural damage was limited to within Rome city limits, officials said.
