A news conference will be held Jan. 4 on the investigation of the Gail Palmgren case, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Sheriff Jim Hammond will hold the conference at 2:30 p.m. and the Times Free Press will provide live online coverage of the news conference from 600 Market St.

Nothing further will be released until the news conference, the sheriff's office said..

Palmgren, 44, disappeared on April 30 after she dropped her two children off at their Signal Mountain home.

Despite several searches in the area, her disappearance was a mystery until early December, when the remains of her body and her Jeep were found of the side of the mountain.

Authorities say her vehicle plunged off the side of East Brow Road on April 30.
