  • Bear Creek Trail: 10 a.m. today, meet at Backcountry Parking Lot, $20, bring daypack with lunch, water, change of socks and trekking pole if you have it.

  • First Day Hike to Park Waterfalls: 1 p.m. Sunday, meet at Interpretive Center, $5.

  • Introduction to Caving: 2 p.m. Saturdays, $20, for ages 6 and older, guides will direct participants through a crawl space during walk to underground river.

  • Wild Cave Tour: 10 a.m. Saturdays, 4 p.m. Wednesdays, for ages 6 and older, two-hour adventure to get muddy, wet and climb on rocks. Must be able to crawl, stoop, balance, climb and wade into cold water.

J.R. MARTINEZ HOMECOMING -- Dalton, Ga. Parade through downtown (1-2:30 p.m.) and ceremony at Northwest Georgia Trade & Convention Center (3:30 p.m.) Jan. 7 to welcome home war veteran, actor and "Dancing With the Stars" champion. Photo and autograph session follows ceremony. 706-272-7676.
