A Chattanooga woman has been charged with first-degree attempted murder in connection with her husband being stabbed in the chest.

On Sunday, Patricia Stoudemire, 42, also was charged with aggravated assault following an incident between the couple at their home, located at 3603 Fourth Ave.

Stoudemire told police that earlier Sunday her husband threatened to harm her, grabbed her wrist and poked her in the forehead. When she went to bed, she took a butcher knife with her, she said. While she was lying in bed watching TV, her husband came in, yelled at her and poked her in the forehead again and that's when she stabbed him, she told police.

Police found Marvin Davis lying on the bedroom floor with a stab wound just below his clavicle. He was transported to Erlanger hospital, where he remains in stable condition, police said.
