Obama praises Whirlpool in Bradley County

The $120 million expansion of the Whirlpool cooking division facilities in Cleveland, Tenn., earned the praise of President Barack Obama today.

In a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Obama cited the Whirlpool investment in Bradley County as evidence of renewed investment in domestic manufacturing.

“Right now, businesses across this country are proving that America can compete,” Obama said. “In Tennessee, Whirlpool is opening their first new U.S. factory in more than a decade.”

Whirlpool, Cleveland’s largest employer, plans to add 130 jobs to its existing workforce of 1,500 employees to assemble ranges and ovens.
