GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Kayla Christopher and Whitney Hood answered Furman's challenge early in the second half Monday night.

The duo scored a combined 47 points to lead the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team to an 83-65 Southern Conference win at Timmons Arena.

"We actually, a couple of times, put them together on some pick-and-rolls and let them work together," Lady Mocs coach Wes Moore said in a phone interview. "And it worked out pretty well."

The Lady Mocs have dominated this series in recent years, and Monday's win was UTC's 20th in a row against the Paladins.

UTC (12-12, 9-6) led by as many as 19 points in the first half, hitting 12 of its first 17 shots. As UTC started missing, Furman was able to get into the game, and the lead was 42-29 going into halftime.

After the Paladins (9-14, 5-9) cut the margin to 51-43 with 15:14 remaining, the Lady Mocs went on a 23-11 run that put the game away for good. Hood scored eight points in the first eight minutes of the second half, finishing with a game-high 25. Christopher hit three 3-pointers in the same stretch and finished with 22 points.

The Lady Mocs have won four of their last five games and host Davidson on Saturday.
