Quartets from the Chattanooga Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society are offering a memorable way to say "I Love You" on Valentine's Day: Singing Valentines.

In addition to a love song performed in four-part harmony by four dapper gentlemen, the quartet will deliver a long-stem rose in a vase, a small box of candy and a card imprinted with the sender's specified sentiment for the recipient. Cost is $45.

"In light of the economy, we've lowered the price somewhat from last year," said Marcellus Scott, marketing and publicity vice president.

Singing Valentines are the major fundraiser for the nonprofit organization, which in addition to encouraging barbershop singing as an art form is dedicated to community service.

"Over the last three years, we've donated nearly $12,000 to organizations like the Walter E. Boehm Center for children born with birth defects," Scott said. "In addition, we volunteer performances at most local events honoring our veterans."
