Chattanooga: 19 Chihuahuas rescued from 101-degree trailer

Monday, February 14, 2011

Nineteen dogs were rescued this afternoon from a trailer off Hixson Pike.

Winston Andrew Odell faces 95 animal-related charges - five different charges for each dog, in addition to a charge for failing to have a breeder's license.

All the dogs were Chihuahuas or Chihuahua mixes. They are currently being treated for various problems at McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center, which did the rescue, including hair loss and blindness.

Dogs were running freely in the trailer, located in Riverglen Community Homes, although several were shut off in rooms, according to McKamey officials.

The inside of the trailer was 101 degrees from a kerosene heater, officials said.
