Four charged in DeKalb, Ala., drug search

DeKalb County, Ala., authorities arrested four people on drug charges and seized 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, assorted drug paraphernalia and cold medicine, according to a release.

Sheriff Jim Harris states that deputies got a call about 9:30 p.m. CST on Thursday regarding possible drug activity at a home on County Road 180 in the Rainsville area.

Drug Task Force agents and sheriff's deputies went the home where homeowner April Dawn Herren, 28, consented to a search, the release states. Officers found 5 grams of suspected meth, paraphernalia, cold medicine and Herren's three children, ages 13, 9 and 8 inside the home.

The released states that Herren, Christine Jane McWhorter, 31, of Rainsville, Ala., Dennis Labron Chapman, 44 of Dutton, Ala., Charles Travis Carlton, 29, of Section, Ala., were arrested at the scene.

Herren Chapman and Carlton were each charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and McWhorter was charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance, the release states.
