Senate passes lobbying restrictions

NASHVILLE - Tennesseans serving on state boards and commissions would have a one-year cooling-off period after leaving the respective board before they could lobby for interests regulated by the same panel under a bill that passed the Senate today.

The measure passed on a 23-8 vote.

The bill's sponsor, Sen. Bo Watson, R-Hixson, said the measure "tightens up" ethics legislation that currently bans registered lobbyists from serving on boards.
