A Hamilton County grand jury will hear the case against a 37-year-old mother charged with killing her daughter's 17-year-old boyfriend.

General Sessions Court Judge Clarence Shattuck sent criminal homicide charges against Margaret Harris to the grand jury this morning for possible indictment.

The judge also denied bond.

Harris was arrested after fleeing the scene at 1308 Orchard Knob on Feb. 18. Police accuse Harris of shooting James Dominick Sherrell in the stomach.

Sherrell, who was the boyfriend of Harris' daughter Latoya Harris, later died.

Before today's hearing, court officers had to step in during a verbal altercation between family and friends of Harris and Sherrell outside the courtroom.
