Lady Mocs beat Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. —The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team clinched third place in the Southern Conference today with a 59-47 win at Western Carolina.

The Lady Mocs finish the regular season with a record of 16-13, 13-7 in league play. Whitney Hood, the SoCon scoring leader from start to finish this season, led UTC with 18 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high four assists.

UTC led 52-45 with 3:29 to play before closing the game on a 7-2 run.

Western Carolina (8-21, 6-14) outrebounded UTC 45-36 and had 16 offensive rebounds, but the Catamounts shot just 25.8 percent from the field and managed only 4 second-chance points.
