Police have murder suspect in custody

The suspect in Chattanooga's first homicide of 2011 was taken into custody Sunday evening, a police spokeswoman said.

Brandon Russell, 29, was apprehended at 442 Roberts St., according to Officer Rebecca Royval.

Russell had warrants for felony murder and especially aggravated robbery in the slaying of Meco Siler, 29, which occurred Jan. 6 at the Country Hearth Suites at 101 E. 20th St.

Police said housekeeping staff found her body stabbed and beaten inside a hotel room.
