Snow leaves few entertainment options

As Chattanooga tries to shake off the snow, stir-crazy citizens with a surprise day off can still get out of the house and find something to do.

The Tennessee Aquarium opened its doors today, but was short-staffed Monday.

"There was a truck with a seafood shipment for the animals and, at that time, there were only three members of our husbandry staff to unload the truck," aquarium spokesman Thom Benson said.

Although staff will be there, Benson doesn't expect too many visitors until road conditions improve and conditions return to normal.

Zoo lovers aren't as lucky as their aquatic counterparts. The Chattanooga Zoo is staying closed today for fear of icy sidewalks hurting patrons and harsh elements harming animals.

Movie nuts will still be able to get their fix today, as both the Rave and Regal cinemas are opening their doors, at least for a little while.

Brandon Young, assistant manager of Rave in East Ridge, said they may close early if today is like Monday, when they sold two tickets.
