In her role, Himelright will oversee programs for the insurer's commercial and Medicare Advantage operations.

"Inga has proven her extensive leadership skills and health care insight in support of our many health performance and improvement initiatives," said Henry Smith, senior vice president of operations for BlueCross.

"She has played a vital role in strengthening our medical policy development and advancing customer relationships as our medical representative."

Prior to joining BlueCross, Himelright was at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and was vice president and medical director.
