A man was wounded after he shot at Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies and they returned fire, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were sent to 5517 Barn Road this afternoon at approximately 6:07 p.m. on a car fire, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.
When they arrived, they saw a man exit the residence armed with a weapon. He then shot in the direction of the deputies, who then returned fire, striking the man, Atkinson said.
He was transported to Erlanger Medical Center by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services to be treated for his injuries.
The sheriff’s office did not release the man’s name or condition, and they did not release the names of the deputies involved in the shootout.
Atkinson said the investigation is ongoing and that there are charges pending against the subject.
All officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as per policy and their names will not be released at this time.
