Chattanooga police arrested one of Hamilton County's 12 most wanted fugitives on Saturday.

James Owens, who was wanted on domestic aggravated assault, vandalism and various failure-to-appear warrants, erratically drove the roads of the Emma Wheeler Homes Saturday night when police officers triedd to pull him over, according to Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Jerri Weary.

The vehicle's occupants hopped out and ran before police could perform a traffic stop, but officers soon located one of them - Owens, who initially gave a false name - at 4911 Angela Drive, Weary said.

While taking Owens into custody, police found 19.5 grams of crack cocaine, rolled currency and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle, which had been reported stolen in East Ridge earlier in the day, Weary said.

Police arrested Owens on his outstanding warrants, but tacked on charges tied to drug possession, illegal driving, criminal impersonation and vehicle theft, according to Weary.

He is being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
