A 20-year-old man from Dalton is wanted in connection with a string of auto shop burglaries in Dalton and Catoosa County.

Police believe Ira Alexander Dennis, of 1033 Holly Grove Drive, is behind the theft of thousands of dollars in auto shop equipment in the last few weeks.

During the course of a joint investigation between Dalton police and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office, authorities obtained arrest warrants for Dennis and for 19-year-old Dustin Ray Mowery, of 1922 Brady Drive, said Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier.

Mowery turned himself in, Frazier said, but Dalton police and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office still are searching for Dennis.

In Dalton, Dennis is the suspect in a burglary at an auto shop where $18,000 worth of equipment was stolen, said Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier.

During the weekend of June 17, the In Town Auto Service on North Glenwood Avenue was burglarized, Frazier said. The shop was closed over the weekend and employees noticed the following Monday that holes were in the walls of two repair bays, he said.

Anyone with any information on this crime or the whereabouts of Dennis is asked to contact Detective Brandon Carter with the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, ext. 183, or Detective Roden with the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office at 706-935-2424.
