Georgia redshirt sophomore defensive end Derrick Lott is expected to miss the start of preseason camp after sustaining a cut in his lower right leg Tuesday in a scooter accident in the Butts-Mehre athletic complex parking area.

The 6-foot-4, 309-pounder from Kennesaw required surgery, which was performed at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson said Wednesday that a full recovery is estimated at 4-6 weeks.

Lott played in three games last season and totaled seven tackles, four of those in the 43-0 win over Vanderbilt. He is listed on the depth chart behind senior DeAngelo Tyson at one of the end spots.
