The staff of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park announces three upcoming programs.
They will conduct rifle-firing demonstrations at 10 and 11:30 a.m., 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The tour will begin at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. The ride is about 5 miles on moderately hilly terrain, suitable for adults and children ages 8 and older accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring their bikes and helmets.
Park rangers from Russell Cave National Monument will provide a program about an American Indian game of stealth and accuracy called "chunky." Demonstrations of this game will take place at Outdoor Chattanooga when the tour returns about 11 a.m. Visitors wishing to participate in the program but not the bike ride are welcome.
The two-hour car caravan and walking tour will begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and will be led by historian Jim Ogden.
Clothing appropriate for the weather, water, and comfortable, supportive footwear are recommended.
