DALTON, Ga. -- The former co-owner of a UPS Store was arrested Friday in metro Atlanta and charged with felony theft by receiving, police said Monday.

Edward Michael Copenhaver, 45, was arrested on warrants from the Dalton Police Department and taken to the Whitfield County Jail.

The warrants were issued as part of an ongoing investigation into reports of missing or stolen property that may have been shipped to or from the UPS Store at 1323 Walnut Ave., according to a news release.

Copenhaver, who was co-owner of the store, and Margaret Katherine Carlisle, 26, both of 1903 Middle Summit Drive, were arrested by Dalton police in June on a similar charge and were free on bond. Carlisle was an employee at the store.

Dalton police still are seeking Carlisle. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Ricky Long at 706-278-9085, ext. 168.

On July 11, a complainant told police he had shipped a computer and game system to his home in California from the Dalton UPS Store but the package never arrived. Dalton police obtained a search warrant for Copenhaver's home and, on July 13, recovered the computer and the game system, police said.

While serving the warrant, investigators found wine reported missing from the store in a separate case.

Prior to that search, a store employee had turned over 10 Redbox DVDs from the store but they weren't discovered as stolen until after July 13, according to police.

Dalton police obtained three felony theft by receiving warrants on Copenhaver and Carlisle. Last week, police received a tip on Copenhaver's whereabouts that led to his arrest.
