UPS owner and manager arrested on theft charges

A UPS co-owner and a manager at the Dalton store location were arrested for stealing packages and police are still looking into other missing reports.

Edward Copenhaver and Margaret Carlisle, both of Middle Summit Drive, Dalton, have been charged with misdemeanor theft by receiving after police searched their home and found a reported missing jacket from the UPS store on Walnut Avenue, said police spokesman Bruce Frazier.

But this isn't the first time Copenhaver and Carlisle have been arrested. Last month Alpharetta Police arrested them on charges of stealing Target gift cards that were suppose to be shipped from the UPS store to tornado victims in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Dalton police had already been investigating reports of missing money at the UPS location when the couple was arrested in Alpharetta, Frazier said. After the media reports on the couple, more complaints came forward of missing property that was suppose to be shipped from the store, he said.

The investigation is still ongoing and more charges may follow, Frazier said.

Anyone with any information on these cases can contact Detective Ricky Long at 706-278-9085, extension 168.
