Contestant on "Voice" hails from Ft. Payne

Nakia Reynoso, 36, a native of Fort Payne, Ala., sings tonight in the quarter-final round of "The Voice." The new singing competition airs on NBC at 9 p.m.

Reynoso, who goes by Nakia on the show, was picked by celebrity judge Cee Lo Green as one of eight singers on his team. Four team members have been eliminated since the show began.

Reynoso is a graduate of Fort Payne High School and is a former director of the Big Wills Arts Council in Fort Payne.

Before auditioning for "The Voice," he performed with the Blues Grifters blues band. Before that, he spent several years leading the band Southern Cousins and producing his own albums. He now lives in Austin, Texas.
