Vote on Chattanooga budget expected next week

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

The Chattanooga City Council is expected to vote on its $201 million proposed 2011-2012 fiscal year budget next week.

The budget, though, will exclude $20 million in appropriations for local agencies. Council members said they wanted more time to study those agencies and make sure they are funded appropriately.

The budget will be voted on as an ordinance with the first reading next Tuesday. The council will vote on the budget a second time on July 12, said Councilwoman Carol Berz, chairwoman of the Budget and Finance Committee.
