Dalton/Whitfield charter group meets, sets date to elect officers

The Dalton-Whitfield County Charter and Consolidation Commission met for the first time at an orientation meeting this afternoon and agreed to elect officers June 29.

The commission’s 15 members will study the consolidation issue and write a charter that will be put up for a general vote. If the charter is passed by both the city and county, consolidation will occur, new commissioners will be elected and a new government will be formed.
