The body of 20-year-old Cecil Timmons-Brown bore about a dozen abrasions, which means he was in a fight before he was shot to death at College Hill Courts early Sunday morning, authorities say.

A Hamilton County medical examiner's report released Thursday shows Timmons-Brown had abrasions on his face, back and extremities. It also shows that he was shot once in his left side.

He was in a crowd of about 20 people near Cypress Street Court and Maple Street Court about 3:30 a.m. when a white, four-door car circled the block and came back with its headlights off, police said.

Two or three men got out and at least one opened fire, according to police.

Witnesses told police that after he was shot, Timmons-Brown made it a couple of steps before collapsing. Friends took him to a nearby home.

As of Thursday evening, Chattanooga police had made no arrests in the case.

Timmons-Brown attended Brainerd High School and lived in East Chattanooga, according to his Facebook page.

His death is the 14th homicide this year for Chattanooga.

On Monday, investigators were back at College Hill Courts after 26-year-old Delandus Pound was shot in the upper shoulder. Six people have been shot in the public housing development so far this year.

Police have stepped up patrols this week.
