Car slams into house on Arrowhead Trail

A breakup between a man and his girlfriend ended with a car crashing into a house Tuesday night, according to Chattanooga police.

Witnesses told police that 22-year-old Tyler Kelley was chasing his girlfriend down Woodvale Avenue around 8 p.m. when he lost control of his car and plowed through a chain linked fence around a house at 4723 Arrowhead Trail, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Weary said Kelley then ran over the homeowner’s dog before ramming into the house. The dog was seriously injured in the crash and isn’t expect to survive its injuries, Weary said.

Kelley was transported from the scene with unknown injuries but refused treatment at the hospital and left.

The crash caused a 3 to 5 foot hole in the home’s foundation and damaged a portion of the house above the foundation.

Charges in the crash are likely to follow further investigation, Weary said.
