Police seek help in body ID

Investigators believe the body found by two men Saturday may be that of a homeless man who died of natural causes.

The final determination is pending the outcome of an autopsy by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office.

As of Monday, investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department had yet to determine the man's identity.

Initial X-rays and an examination do not show any signs of foul play, according to police. An autopsy was conducted Monday, but results were not yet released.

The body was discovered just off the road in the 3800 block of Lightfoot Mill Road a little before noon. The body was partially clothed in a medium red-and-black-plaid flannel shirt and white briefs, police said, and a Bulova Caravelle quartz watch was on the right hand.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the man.

The man is believed to be between the late 50s and early 70s. He was about 5 foot 5 and weighed about 145 pounds. He was balding on top with gray hair on the sides.
