Kohl’s Corp officials have said they expect February sales to be towards the “higher end” of its projected range.
Kohl’s has posted on its website openings for executive jobs for a new store in Hixson.
The move further reinforces that the company plans a Hixson department store, but a company spokeswoman said Wednesday it still hasn’t made an official announcement.
“We’ve not announced any plans to open a new store in your community,” said Erin Kelbe, who works for the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based company.
However, a Web page on Kohl’s Internet site related to company jobs lists “new store executive management positions — Hixson, TN.”
Oscar Brock, property manager for The Fountains of North Chattanooga on Highway 153, declined to confirm a Kohl’s store for the parcel, though he has said a major new retailer is pegged for the shopping center.
He said work on a building pad has made progress next to Academy Sports + Outdoors. On Wednesday, workers were laying concrete pipe toward the rear of the flattened site.
Kohl’s, which sells midprice apparel, accessories and home decor, has stores in East Brainerd and Bradley County, Tenn., and it also is interested in a new location in Dalton, Ga.
Brock said the shopping center’s developer is planning up to 140,000 square feet of additional retail in the shopping center. Also, the tract has four outparcels for restaurants or other uses, he said.
