McMinn Central defeats Cannon County

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Despite its three leading scorers sitting out the majority of the third quarter with four fouls each, top-ranked McMinn Central held on to defeat Cannon County 53-41 today in the semifinals of the Class AA state tournament at Middle Tennessee State University.

Miss Basketball finalist Jenna Adams sat out more than six minutes of the third, but finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead McMinn Central.

In avenging their only loss of the season, the Chargerettes (34-1) moved into the title game for a second straight year and will play sixth-ranked Macon County Saturday at 5 p.m. (EST).
