Prosecutors have filed a motion to increase the bond for a city employee accused of raping a woman.

Carlton Wayne Cameron, 52, appeared before General Sessions Court Judge Christie Sell on Tuesday and will reappear before her on Thursday when she renders a decision on his bond amount. Sell will determine the bond amount if it increases.

Cameron, who has worked as a crew worker for the city of Chattanooga since 1986, is charged with several counts of aggravated rape and other charges, including kidnapping and robbery. He posted a $60,000 bond when he was arrested Feb. 28.

The woman accused of helping Cameron, Shrena Bell, 35, who remains at Silverdale Detention Center, also appeared in court Tuesday. She faces similar charges in the case and her bond was set at $34,000.

The state is also requesting that one of Bell's charges be upgraded to aggravated kidnapping because they say Bell held a knife on the victim while ordering her into a vehicle.

Bell is accused of approaching a woman as she was leaving Warehouse Row on Feb. 26 and asking for directions. Bell then held a knife to the victim's throat and ordered her to move to the passenger seat of a vehicle, the victim told police.

The victim said she was taken to a residence at 3120 W. 16th Ave., where she was taken to a room and locked inside. With one of them holding her down, Cameron and Bell took turns performing sex acts on the woman, according to reports. They also stole her jewelry, she said.

Cameron remains on unpaid personal leave from his job with the city. In a letter dated March 1, he was told he had accumulated 106.8 hours of leave.
