Roundup leads to 57 arrests in Chattanooga

A two-day roundup led by Chattanooga-area law enforcement agencies put 57 people behind bars.

According to Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary, the countywide saturation event on Thursday and Friday involved the police department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Most arrests were for misdemeanors, but police made several drug and gang-related arrests, Weary said.

Officials also seized more than $8,000 in cash, more than 70 grams of marijuana, more than 25 grams of cocaine and 248 pills, she said.

Much thanks and praise to the dedicated men and women of law enforcement in our community. Thanks to their courage and professionalism, these arrests were made safely and our community is made safer.

Many of our neighbors are blissfully unaware of the real working environments in which these faithful servants endure and overcome evil, blocking danger to others with their bodies, hearts, and minds.

Don't forget that they didn't enjoy the beautiful weekend off work and enjoying their own families -- they would tell you it is their job making our families safer. And they do. Say "thank you!" to the next officer you can. They have more than earned our thanks and praise.
