After Misty Harnes threatened to kill herself in a text message, her friends showed up at her house in Trion to try to stop her, said Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett. But when the friends arrived, Harnes stabbed one of them - Sandra Crowe - twice, he said.

Police arrived and both women were taken to a hospital, he said. Harnes faces aggravated assault charges after she is treated for overdosing on pills, the sheriff said.

The same night, the sheriff said he had to fire his investigator Gary Mull, who showed up on the crime scene after he had been drinking.

Mull was on call and it was his last day for the week, Everett said.
