Falling tree hits car, knocks out power in East Ridge neighborhood

A motorist escaped injury today when a tree fell on his car on Prigmore Road in East Ridge but the tree ripped down a power line and left people in the dark, according to a police news release.

EPB has a crew on the scene working to restore power, East Ridge Police spokesman Erik Hopkins said in the release.

He said the unidentified motorist was in the 1600 block of Prigmore shortly after 1 p.m. when the tree fell across the vehicle.

Several blocks of homes lost power when the line went down, Hopkins said.

Prigmore Road will stay closed until the tree is cleared away, he said.
