Chattanooga airport officials, aready making big changes in the general aviation area, also are looking at improvements in and outside the commercial passenger terminal.

On the airport's west side, a 9,000-square-foot general aviation terminal is going up.

It's the first phase of $10 million in planned facilities, which include a fuel farm and hangar space.

Concerning the commercial passenger terminal on the east side, changes could include shifting the passenger security checkpoint and the renovation of ticketing, baggage and food and concessions areas.

Adding a 1,200-space parking garage and improving exterior traffic flow are also under consideration involving work that could take place over a period of years, officials said.

"It's something we want to look at in great detail," said Mike Landguth, the airport's president.
