3 cut during fight at apartment

Three people were cut Sunday during a domestic argument at the Fountain-bleau Apartments on Spring Creek Road in East Ridge, authorities said.

East Ridge police spokesman Erik Hopkins said Askia Witherow and Heather Witherow were arguing shortly before 2 p.m.

Heather Witherow's brother, Michael Brown, pulled a knife and slashed Askia Witherow across the back of the neck, Hopkins said. The two struggled on the floor, and Brown was stabbed in the left side of his abdomen. Heather Witherow's hand was cut when she tried to break up the fight, Hopkins said.

Brown walked across the street to Parkridge East Hospital. The Witherows were taken in ambulances to Erlanger hospital.

The investigation is still going on, and charges are pending, Hopkins said.

Police arrest 101 over weekend

More than 100 people were arrested Friday and Saturday on felony and misdemeanor charges in the second saturation sweep this month by the Chattanooga Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said authorities were reacting to the spike of violence during March.

In addition to 101 arrests, Weary said officers served 32 warrants, seized eight vehicles and three guns and confiscated $2,244. In addition, police seized more than 8 pounds of marijuana, 2 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of crack cocaine, half a gram of methamphetamine and 23 pills.

Weary said eight arrests were gang-related.
