Baylor School junior Gina Lambiase is among the 20 girls selected to the U.S. Lacrosse Tennessee High School team that will play May 28-29 in the Schoolgirls Division of the women's national tournament in Stony Brook, N.Y. The first Baylor girl to make one of these statewide teams, Lambiase is the only East Tennessee player chosen this year.

• MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Michael Morris had three goals and three assists and Carson Pfeifer also scored three goals as Sewanee ended its men's lacrosse season with a 15-6 victory Saturday at Berry. Bryan Byers scored four for Berry. Reed Daniel and Drew Lincoln each scored twice for Sewanee (7-8), and Tigers senior Teddy Peterson picked up 17 ground balls and won 18 of 23 face-offs. Goalie Tommy Healy made seven saves.

Fishing

• Georgia Southern senior Wesley Maples from Northwest Whitfield High School and junior partner Jed Thigpen from Waycross, Ga., won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeast Division tournament Saturday on Lake Eufaula in Alabama. The GSU duo's five-bass limit weighed 10 pounds, 14 ounces, earning their club $7,500 and the university $2,500. They also won the tournament on Lake Chickamauga last September. Tennessee Tech's Matthew Padgett and Josh Young were 13th on Saturday, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Cliff Dye and Alex Craw were 27th.

Baseball

• COLUMBUS, Ga. - Top-seeded Lee University, which last week was ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, was the first team out of the Southern States Athletic Conference baseball tournament Saturday. The fourth-ranked Flames lost 7-4 to No. 19 Southern Polytechnic. Preston Scoggins was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Jonathan Clark drove in two, Chris Grayson had an RBI triple and Logan Bowers was 2-for-5 with an RBI for Lee (44-12). Leadoff batter Demarcus Tidwell was 3-for-4 and scored three runs for the Hornets (40-14).

• CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Cleveland State won 5-0 and lost 5-1 in a TCCAA baseball doubleheader Saturday against Volunteer State. Brandon Rader was 2-for-3 and scored three runs, Trevor Burgess and Galen Smith each also was 2-for-3 and Grant Zawadzki hit a two-run home run for the host Cougars (26-22, 13-13) in the first game, when Jaime Harper pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts. Zac Curtis threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for Vol State in the rematch, when Michael Massi was 3-for-3 and matched Ryan Foster with two RBIs. Gray Hutchinson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and the Cougars' RBI in the regular-season finale.

• Nationally seventh-ranked Chattanooga State clinched the second seed in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII baseball tournament with an 8-2 win Saturday, before losing 11-6 to visiting Jackson State. The teams play again today at 2 p.m. First-place Walters State is ranked No. 4.

• SWEETWATER, Tenn. - Covenant hit eight home runs in beating Hiwassee 10-5 and 12-1 in five innings in a college baseball doubleheader Saturday at Sweetwater High School. Taylor Oldham was 5-for-7 with three homers and five RBIs in the final two regular-season games for the Scots (24-14), and James Rollins homered in each game. Jonathan Carter homered twice in the opener, when Harrison Fisher tripled and singled and Tyler Smith raised his pitching record to 10-1. Andre Glover went to 7-3 in game two, when David Lockwood hit a grand slam and Taylor Abney was 3-for-3.

• BRISTOL, Va. - Bryan College completed an AAC baseball series sweep of Virginia Intermont by winning 6-5 and 12-1 in five innings Saturday. Tyler Latham and Shane Clawson each was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Jonathan Davis was 2-for-5 with an RBI in the first game for the Lions (30-23, 10-12). Davis was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Dewayne Boyd was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Andrew Smith was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Clawson and Josh Harris each had two hits and an RBI and Josh King was 1-for-2 with two RBIs in game two, when Kemonte Keesee pitched a three-hitter.

Softball

• Because the Covenant College campus has been closed following last Wednesday's storms, the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East Regional softball tournament has been moved from the Lookout Mountain school to Oakland City in Indiana. Covenant opens Monday against OCU's Mighty Oaks at 2 p.m.

• MEMPHIS - Maddie McKinley from Gordon Lee doubled in the two runs for Memphis in a 4-2 Conference USA softball loss Saturday to UAB, and the Tigers won the second game 1-0 with GPS graduate Kamri Chester going 2-for-3 with a home run.

Auto Racing

• Lamar Scoggins of Georgetown won the Steel-Head Late Model race Friday night at Boyd's Speedway by over half the track length. Rick Hixson was second with Tod Hernandez, Riley Hickman and Bobby Mayse third through fifth. Maryville's Jason Welshan rebounded from a disallowed victory the week before to win the Crate Late Models race with an engine borrowed from Richard Harvey. Kayne Hickman, Craig Burrows and Jeff Smith were second through fourth.
