A Winchester, Tenn., city councilman faces a number of rape and sexual battery charges after his Friday arrest, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Councilman Cheyne Stewart May 6. Another man, Jefferey Michael Kennedy, was arrested in relation to the same incident, according to Franklin County corrections officers.

The charges Stewart faces include aggravated rape, aggravated sexual battery, rape, sexual battery, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated rape, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated sexual battery, and criminal conspiracy to commit rape.

Kennedy also faces a long list of sexual misconduct charges.

Stewart was released Friday on a $100,000 bond, the corrections officer said. His first court appearance is set for May 13.
