Anderson joins new law firm

Michael A. Anderson, formerly of Maddox & Anderson PLLC, has joined the Chattanooga law firm of Patrick, Beard, Schulman & Jacoway, P.C.

A native of Chattanooga, Anderson is a graduate of Auburn University and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He has practiced law for 25 years and is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Anderson is listed in Best Lawyers of America in the area of personal injury litigation.

Founded in 1984, Patrick, Beard, Schulman and Jacoway has offices downtown and employs 12 attorneys.

Locke to direct human resources

Melissa Locke is the new human resources director serving Morning Pointe Assisted Living and Senior Care communities. Locke has 15 years of experience in the business and will oversee human resources for corporate staff and 17 Morning Pointe communities owned by Independent Healthcare Properties.

"As a key component to the positive corporate culture for IHP, Locke will plan, direct and carry out policies and procedures relating to all phases of human resources and personnel activity," said Greg Vital, CEO of Independent Healthcare Properties.

Locke specializes in human resources employment law and in management development. She is also a professional facilitator, speaker, trainer and writer.

Locke previously worked for Life Care Home Health Inc., Georgia-Pacific, Tennessee's Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Hardwick Clothes, concentrating in the field of human resources. She has worked as an HR director, coordinator, training manager and organization development consultant.

She is a graduate of Bryan College and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Chattanooga Chapter.

Wilson Air wins top recognition

Wilson Air Center, which will operate the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority's new fixed-base operation opening in August, has won the top spot in a list of best small U.S. FBO chains, according to Professional Pilot Magazine.

Pilots and flight crews voted Wilson Air into the top spot in the magazine's 38th annual PRASE (Preferences Regarding Aviation Services and Equipment) survey released last month, according to the company.

"We look forward to adding Chattanooga to our roster of highly successful corporate flight centers," said Dave Ivey, vice president of Wilson Air.

Wilson Air operates corporate flight centers, or FBOs, in Charlotte, N.C.; Houston; and at its headquarters in Memphis.

Library employee given scholarship

Chelsea Kovalevskiy, youth education coordinator at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library, has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to attend the master's degree program in library science at Valdosta State University.

She was chosen for the Laura Bush 21st Century Scholarship, which covers all in-state charges for the university's master of library and information science program, after her application was reviewed by a committee of Georgia public library officials.

Librarians practicing in Georgia must hold a master of library and information science degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

Kovalevskiy, who coordinates educational programming with library youth education specialists in Walker and Dade County public libraries, began working at the LaFayette-Walker County library two years ago.

She and her husband, Nikita, live in LaFayette.

Love, Crosson win leadership awards

Doyle Love, executive director at Life Care Center of East Ridge, and Guy Crosson, executive director at Life Care Center of Red Bank, recently earned top administrator awards from the American College of Health Care Administrators.

Over the past year, Love served on the committee of the Academy of Long Term Care Leadership and Development, through ACHCA. Members mentor and grow leaders in the long-term care industry.

A certified nursing home administrator, Love is an ACHCA fellow, a nurse and a preceptor to instruct new long-term care administrators. He has been executive director at Life Care Center of East Ridge for five years and has won several awards personally and for his facility's performance under his leadership.

"It's an honor but humbling," said Love, who received the Distinguished Administrator Award from ACHCA. "I love every part of my job."

Crosson, who received the Faculty Leadership Award, is a member of the ACHCA board of directors and the president of the Tennessee chapter. He also sits on the board of directors for the Tennessee Health Care Association and serves that organization as Chattanooga District president. He has been executive director at Life Care Center of Red Bank for seven years and has been with Life Care for 10 years.

Kenco named vendor of the year

Kenco Transportation Management recently was recognized as the Vendor of the Year by the Vincit Group, a Chattanooga-based provider of food safety, sanitation, water and energy management.

Kenco achieved the recognition based upon its performance and ranking as the top vendor for innovative ideas in reducing costs without impacting the level of service provided. Kenco Transportation Management provides logistic management services for various industries across the United States.
