Woman’s car found

The search for a missing East Ridge woman whose car was found near a friend’s house on Fredonia Mountain was fruitless Saturday.

After finding 68-year-old Nancy Williams’ Honda Accord locked and abandoned in Sequatchie County on Friday, investigators hoped the woman, who was an avid hiker, wouldn’t be far.

But dog teams, sheriff’s deputies and volunteers weren’t able to turn up anything by Saturday night.

“There’s still no sign of her,” Sequatchie County Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock said. “She’s gone.”

The search will continue today, but several volunteers and deputies will have to return to work during the week.
