"Just friends" insists Lauren Alaina Suddeth about her relationship with "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery.

The Rossville teen finished second to McCreery in Wednesday night's "Idol" finale. The teens' on-air smooches during that show caused rampant Internet speculation today about a budding romance.

During a conference call with national media, the hometown singer said she was happy that McCreery had won.

"I've been saying all along it didn't matter what happened, but if it came down to me or Scotty I'd be happy either way. He's so talented, he's got the look and he loves Jesus. I couldn't have picked a better person to get second-place to."

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported today that Suddeth will receive "$87,500 for finishing second. The amount would be doubled if [she] records an album."
