Chattanooga police seek Kangaroo robber

The Chattanooga Police Department is looking for a suspect in a Kangaroo Express robbery, police said.

On Tuesday at 3:13 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the Kangaroo Express located at 4900 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said in a news release.

The clerk told police that a white, male suspect with pantyhose over his head entered the store and demanded the clerk to open the cash register. When the clerk refused, the suspect grabbed the register, ripped it off the counter and ran out the door holding it, Hartwig said.

The suspect was about 6 feet tall, with an average build and light, possibly gray, hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans, Hartwig said, and was seen leaving in an older model, faded-red pickup truck with a drive-out tag in the window behind the driver's seat.

Anyone with information can call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
