Cleveland High School science wing gets design award

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Cleveland High School's Max R. Carroll Science Wing is an architectural winner.
During its annual convention last week in Nashville, the Tennessee School Boards Association awarded Upland Design Group first place in the Renovation/Reconstruction category for excellence in architectural design.
Each year the TSBA makes awards to architectural firms for excellence in design.
New elementary school construction awards went to Sevier and Blount counties, middle school awards to Putnam, Shelby and Hawkins counties and a high school award to Hamblen County.
Cleveland opened its new $8 million science wing with the start of the school year. It features state-of-the-art science education equipment.
"Green technology, geothermal, esthetics all play a part in the decision," said Dr. Martin Ringstaff, director of city schools.
"The science wing changes the face of Cleveland High School. It has a very warm appeal the city can be proud of," said Cleveland City School Board Chairwoman Peggy Pesterfield.
