A man was severely beaten following an altercation with four men last night at 2400 4th Avenue.

24-year-old Ronald Strickland is in critical condition and suffering from multiple skull fractures after being jumped by four unknown suspects, Chattanooga police say.

Witnesses told police that Strickland was walking in the area when he was approached by one of the suspects and they began fighting. Seconds later three other suspects came over and pushed him down to the ground where they continued to kick and stomp Strickland in the head.

When emergency services arrived, Strickland was unresponsive and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said.
